Ligue 1: 2019-20 Schedule:
This year 2019-20 season will be the 82nd seasons since its inception. This season is scheduled to begin on 9 August 2019 and will end on 23 May 2020.
Format of Matches:
20 teams take part in Ligue 1. Taking turns in the first round (played between August and December) and back (between January and May). For each match, 3 points are awarded to the winner of the match and 0 to that defeat.
In case of a tie, a team point is awarded. From the 1973-74 championship until 1975-76 a rule was adopted in the allocation of points which consisted of the addition of a bonus point to a team that won a match with more than three-goal difference.

Also, the champion team has the right to enter the group stage of the UEFA Champions League, along with the runner-up. The third classified will play instead the preliminaries of the maximum continental competition starting from the third qualifying round.
The fourth, together with the winners of the French Cup and the League Cup, has instead access to the UEFA Europa League. The winner of the French Cup starting directly from the group stage while the cup winner League and the fourth classified starting from the third qualifying round.
The most titled team in Ligue 1:
The most titled team is the Saint-Etienne, which won 10 victories from 1932 to today. The last one however they won in the year 1981. As for the holdings, Olympique Marseille is the team that played the most editions – 67 times. The longest streak of consecutive victories goes to Olympique Lyon, who can triumph seven times in a row between 2001 and 2008.
The current champion team is Paris Saint-Germain, who won the title in the 2018-2019 season.
