The Independent Athletic Club, popularly famous as Independiente. It is an Argentine sports entity based in the Buenos Aires city of Avellaneda. It is in the south of Greater Buenos Aires (GBA).
History Independiente:
Independiente team was founded on January 1, 1905 by some young independent employees of the Maipu Club. The first team participated annually in the First Division of Argentina. However, other sports disciplines are also practiced at an amateur and semi-professional level.
Independiente is one of the most successful and historically renowned clubs in Argentina, South America, and in the world. At the local level, Red owns total 25 national titles, 16 for leagues and 9 for cups.
In addition, in the international arena, the team has achieved the record of 7 titles in the Copa Libertadores. It is the only club to win 4 consecutive finals between 1972 and 1975.
They are also the highest winner in the Inter-American Cup 3 times, the South American Super Cup 2 times and the South American Cup 2 times.
It is also one of the “World Champions” clubs worldwide after winning the Intercontinental Cup twice. According to a statistical study conducted by the IFFHS in 2009, it was the second most successful South American team of the 20th century.
